UNDER CONSTRUCTION

SÃO JORGE, GO – 2020

Located a few kilometers from the limit of the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, the complex will consist of two buildings: a house (photos) and the “Jardins do Cerrado” school, dedicated to courses related to the preservation of the region’s biome. The house can be used in conjunction with the school and vice versa. Each of the buildings was implanted in a portion of the land with a steep slope and without large vegetation, separated by 500m from its highest point. While the house faces the Vale do Segredo, the school faces an area close to the access to São Jorge, in the vicinity of the cerrado shrubbery that is currently operating. The buildings are composed of two independent parts: the “habitable” nucleus and the roof.

The first part of the construction uses local labor. Reinforced concrete, walls, metalwork and joinery were made by small companies in the region. The buildings were installed at different elevated levels and adapted to the existing topography in order to prevent the entry of small wild animals and minimize the movement of land. A system of stairs and ramps connects all levels.

The second part, consisting of glued laminated wood (MLC) cover, was manufactured remotely and assembled in the last stage of construction. The foundation blocks of the roof are removed from the main core of the building, serve as anchoring of the structure stabilization cables and as primary collection boxes for rainwater pipes for reuse.

Description of the structural system of Glued Laminated Wood (MLC), ITA Construtora:

“The wooden roof of Casa Palicourea does not touch the concrete and masonry core of the residence. For this reason, it is essential that the stability of the wooden structure is guaranteed in an autonomous way. In partnership with the BLOCO architects, we have developed these pillars that are shot triangular, which promote the stability of the set in both directions. The tringular shoe, where the pillar and its tie rods are anchored, was designed by architecture in order to also receive the rainwater coming from the roof gutters. ”
