“in construction” Belo Horizonte Design Week

Temporary installation in the common area of the Confins Airport as part of the Belo Horizonte Design Week, 2017

“Pre-casting was always a solution adopted by us in the execution of repetitive elements that demanded an immediate speed of execution due to the rhythm of the work”. The principles of prefabrication, assembly line, mechanization and speed in the construction, used in the Airport of Confins by the architect Milton Ramos guided the design of the installation.

The rudimentary and constructive simplicity of the work scaffold contrasts with the structural robustness of the architectural design, without being mixed with it. We elevate the pieces of furniture and fix them in a plane placed upside down in the structure of the scaffolds, allowing their complete visualization from the ground floor and the first floor of the airport. The mirror placed on the lower linear plank that runs through the four towers allows a person close to the scaffold to be able to see the furniture in a traditional way, from top to bottom. The mirrors also reflect part of the apparent concrete ceiling, one of the few excerpts from the original design that still remain after a recent renovation.
