BRASÍLIA – DF, 2023
The block F of SQS 308, designed by Marcelo Campello and Sérgio Rocha, was inaugurated in 1961 with a compartmentalized plan, typical of the time. The living room was separated from the dining room by a wall and the linear service area occupied the entire area along the rear facade of the building, which is covered by cobogós. We eliminated the two original service rooms and turned them into a new service area. We moved the kitchen to the cobogó facade to expand the social area (living rooms and kitchen) and thus create a direct connection between the two facades of the building, which makes it possible to obtain natural cross ventilation in all social areas of the apartment. This modification also allows natural lighting to reach the interior of the property. By repositioning the toilet at the entrance to the apartment and transforming the first bedroom into a library, we exposed the structure of concrete beams and pillars in their original format in the living room, kitchen and bedrooms.
