Winner of the IF Design Award, in the Interior Architecture / Trade Fair Exhibition Category, Berlin 2024

Our project is called the “Docol Forest”. This idea was based on reflection on the inseparable connection between forests and water. The conscious and rational use of water in Docol products is one of the brand’s main objectives. At the same time, the preservation of water on the planet is directly linked to the preservation of its forests. Based on this idea, we thought of an exhibition space that could be built quickly and with as little waste as possible, using a material with low environmental impact. Thus, we designed a module in “sustainable wood” or “Glulam” (glued laminated timber), which can be combined to create a large structural “grid”. This module should be assembled and disassembled quickly, several times, avoiding waste and allowing its eventual use for different functions in the future.

Together with the brand Docol, we seek to expose products in a visually permeable way, without closed rooms. Therefore, we conceived the Glulam module as a series of structural “lines” on which we could support various forms of lighting and display of the brand’s products, from panels and volumes suspended from the floor to spaces for mounting moodboards. This “forest of pillars” also gave way to a “clearing” free of visual obstacles and crowned by a projection screen, a space for presentations and exhibitions.

The glulam specialist ITA Construtora joined us in this great challenge. The company detailed, calculated and built the Glulam structure of the 1,000 square meter stand divided into two spaces measuring 400sqm and 600 sqm. The construction strategy and specific construction details for assembling the structure were all created by ITA. The large set of pillars and wooden beams was assembled in just 2 days.
